OUR TOP TEN MOTORCYCLING ROADS IN EUROPE


This is a collection of our all time favourite roads in Europe. Some of these are fairly well known, but there are a few little gems tucked away that we thought we would share with you.
NUMBER 1) The Transfagarasan Highway.
LOCATION: Romania.
DESCRIPTION: 92 KM of twists and turns through the Southern Carpathian mountains. ‘Top Gear’ . BBC’s motoring show hailed this as being “The best road in the world” and i have to agree with them. It has every type of bend imaginable and is sure to get that adrenaline pumping!

NUMBER 2) Gi 682
LOCATION: Spain, Costa Brava
DESCRIPTION: Sometimes referred to as the ‘road of the year’ because it has 365 bends within the space of only 12 miles, a bend for each day! With race track like smooth tarmac this road is guaranteed to have every biker grinning like a Cheshire cat. Set high on the cliff’s edge , this road hugs the Mediterranean coast line, the views across the glistening clear waters are awe inspiring.

NUMBER 3) Col de Turini
LOCATION: Southern France
DESCRIPTION: This helter skelter road is one of the most dangerous and challenging stages of the Monte Carlo Rally . With 34 tight hairpins to challenge you and jaw-dropping scenery, the Col De Turini is undoubtedly one of the most exciting and coolest motorcycling roads in Europe.

NUMBER 4) San Bernardino Pass
LOCATION: Switzerland
DESCRIPTION: A high mountain pass in the Swiss Alps, with a fantastic smooth road surface and an amazing blend of hairpins and s-curves this Alpine pass easily earns its spot on our all time top ten.

NUMBER 5) The Stelvio pass
LOCATION: Italy
DESCRIPTION: This high Alpine pass is one of the most famous driving roads in the world. Every biker owes it to themselves to conquer the 60 challenging hairpins of this infamous road.

NUMBER 6) B500
LOCATION: Germany
DESCRIPTION: No list of the best motorcycling roads would be complete without mentioning the B500. This amazing biking road runs through the heart of Germany’s Black Forest. Every rider owes it to their bike to have a blast down this amazing piece of German asphalt, especially those with sports bikes. With banked corners and tarmac as smooth as a babies bum it has to be ridden to be believed, it surely must have been designed by a biker!

LOCATION: Northern Spain
DESCRIPTION: Another fantastic must do road in Northern Spain, 120 miles of biking nirvana. Fast sweepers, hairpin bends, s-curves and everything in-between, this road has it all.

NUMBER 8 ) Col du Ballon d’Alsace
LOCATION: France , Vosges Mountains
DESCRIPTION: The Vosges Mountains are bursting with amazing biking roads, this one is our personal favourite, a fantastic blend of hairpin bends and fast sweepers. Overlooking the Doller valley the views from the top are breathtaking reaching as far as the Black Forest to the east, the Bernese Alps to the south towards Mont Blanc and the crests of the Vosges to the north. Biking heaven!

NUMBER 9) D907 Gorges du Tarn
LOCATION: France
DESCRIPTION: This stretch of road is a real challenge for any biker, it is tight and twisty with rocky overhangs to keep you on your toes as you ride through one of Europe’s deepest canyons. With jaw-dropping scenery and enough twists and turns to satisfy even the most extreme adrenaline junkie it had to have a mention in our top ten.

NUMBER 10) Route Napoleon
LOCATION: France
DESCRIPTION: This one had to get a mention, no matter what bike you ride the Route Napoleon is simply a fantastic biking road. Approximately 190 miles of pure motorcycling heaven, it is marked along the way by statues of the flying eagle symbol.
